How it works
From the waitlist to a working network, usually in about 20 minutes of your time.
- Get an invitation. We open 10 spots at a time and email the waitlist in order.
- Choose a plan. Buy the router outright, or pay for it over 12 months with no money up front.
- We prepare your router. It is set up for your home before it ships: your network names, your passwords, your settings.
- Plug it in. One cable from your internet provider's box to the router, then power. A setup page follows along and turns each step green when we see it working on our side.
- Join your Wi-Fi. Your devices join the new network with the name and password from the setup page.
- Turn off the old Wi-Fi. If your provider's box has its own Wi-Fi, we show you how to turn it off so devices don't wander back to it.
- Done. From here we look after the router. You can open Shield from any device at home to see what your network is doing.
What we look after
Devices kept apart
Break-ins at home usually start with the weakest device: a cheap camera, a smart plug, a TV that stopped getting updates. So your phones and computers live in the house, the gadgets in the garage and guests in the guest room, and the doors only open from the house side. A gadget that's ever taken over is stuck in the garage.
Always up to date
We update the router's software for you, after testing each update on our own units first.
Phishing, trackers and ads, blocked
We keep the blocklists current: known phishing, scam and malware sites, plus trackers, ad networks and data brokers. Tap a known bad link from an email or text at home, and it won't load.
Wi-Fi tuned for your home
We pick the clearest channels and re-check them as your neighbours' Wi-Fi changes.
Problems caught early
If a radio stops working or the router stops checking in, we hear about it, usually before you notice.
Your real internet speed
A daily speed check shows what your provider actually delivers, and how much lag your line adds when it's busy.
Coming next
Included in your plan as they arrive, at no extra cost.
Calls and games that stay smooth
When someone starts a big download or a backup, video calls, streaming and games keep their quick response, because they go first and bulk traffic waits. It's sized to your own line from the speed and lag measurements we already take.
An assistant that fixes it for you
Describe the problem in plain words, like "the printer stopped working". Our AI assistant checks your network, finds the cause and fixes it, or tells you exactly which plug or cable to check. It works within limits we set, and a person steps in when it can't solve something.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share data about your household.
- We don't need to be your internet provider. The router works with the line you already have.
